Chelsie Gill

My practice is a mix of mediums such as print and film usually forming into an installation  or stand alone pieces. For me images can speak louder than words so I find myself immersed in research and finding the right images to use in my work or for inspiration. The imagery I use always has a meaning and takes a forefront in my work and process. Working mainly in print I find  silkscreens my preferred choice of printmaking. With this method of printmaking I like the imperfections when creating the prints with photographs. I like to print my work onto fabric which is a heavy influence in my installation pieces, I enjoy the flow of the fabric and the way it can turn my work into obscure images when printed onto and hung. My film practice mainly focuses around people, abstracted images of my prints and self. My film work itself is simple but I find that it enhances my pieces. With this I enjoying mixing the printing onto fabric and the film to create one piece of work. World history, self and memories are very important to my work; I want to create the feelings and emotions I have with them into pieces that can translate to the audience and create if not the same but some feeling and emotion inside them when they view my work.
