My name is Steve, I work mainly in intuitive sculpture, film and photography. Up until relatively recently I found myself not understanding most of contemporary video art and yet here I am making it myself. I feel this turn of events is the best example I can give of the benefit my time at university has given me, an open inquisitive backing to not only my work but most things I do on a wider scale. I would not change this benefit for anything, it has given me the sight to more often see the potential in the things around me, as well as driven me to make work that I would never have been able to in the past. I want to help people take a clearer look at their situations, hoping they will consider the perceptions they hold on the world they live in. By using sections of video footage collected by myself in my everyday routine along with sculptural work that finds its foundations in the passionate creativity that has enthusiastically driven me forward to bring me to the point I am on the verge of my final year degree show. And, if I’m perfectly honest, I couldn’t be happier with where I find myself right now, both spiritually and physically. I couldn’t have achieved this without the support of some incredible friends and colleagues, along with a selection of outstanding tutors that are there every step of the way. I feel extremely excited and await with anticipation for what the next few months hold, and further than that, the rest of my life.
