Lauren Broadhurst

I use mixed media to create my work, but I bring a more sculptural feel to more two dimensional mediums, bringing in elements of film and print to a finished sculpture.

Much of my work focuses on the landscape and more recently focuses on the journey taken through the landscape. I travel the same journey by bus almost every day and although there is some repetition in this I find there are interesting changes in the landscape. Through my work I try to create a visual representation of my own journey through the landscape and to communicate a more exciting perspective. Although my work looks at just one journey that I have travelled I hope that the physical layers of the work and the abstracted movement of the film working together can relate to the journeys travelled by others and can provoke new ways of looking at the passing landscape.

The use of sculpture is something that I enjoy as the wide range of materials allows for the freedom to express my ideas in multiple ways, which has been utilized in this project in my combination of film and paper cutting to create a three-dimensional piece.
